Hybrid Liquid Stain vs Hybrid Cream Stain

Hybrid Stain Comparison

hybrid liquid stain vs hybrid cream stain

Choose the Hybrid CREAM Brow Stain when you want a controlled, one-coat application that stays where you put it, with hyaluronic acid for hydration. Choose the Hybrid Liquid Brow Stain when you want the widest shade range and a stronger 3D effect on the skin. Both are henna-free, tint the hair and stain the skin, and work alongside brow lamination.

two textures, one service

The Hybrid CREAM Brow Stain has a velvety, whipped texture that glides on in one even coat. It is infused with hyaluronic acid to hydrate the hair and the surrounding skin during the service.

The Hybrid Liquid Brow Stain is a fluid stain made with naturally filtered Himalayan water and Indian gooseberry. It is designed to be pushed into the skin with a dense brush, which is where its 3D effect comes from.

A cream stays exactly where the brush puts it, which helps when you are still building confidence with skin staining. A liquid spreads into the skin and under the hairs more readily, which builds depth on the skin.

what each one does to the skin

Both stains color the hair and the skin. The difference is in how long the skin result holds.

Cream

About 2 to 7 days on the skin

With up to 6 weeks on the brow hairs. A soft skin result that fades within the week for most clients.

Liquid

Up to 10 to 14 days

The stronger option when the client wants the 3D, filled-in look to last.

Pro Tip

Prep decides both results

Dead skin cells make any hybrid stain patchy. Exfoliate the brow area with a brow scrub before you apply, whichever texture you use.

client profiles for each

Pick Cream

Dry or dehydrated brows

The hyaluronic acid in the cream hydrates the hair and the skin during the service.

Pick Cream

A soft, short-lived skin result

Clients trying a hybrid stain for the first time often prefer a skin result that fades within the week.

Pick Liquid

Sparse brows that need filling

The liquid's 3D effect fills the gaps between hairs and holds longer on the skin.

Pick Liquid

Red and strawberry blonde hair

The liquid range includes Reddish Brown and Light Chestnut Brown, two warm shades the cream range does not carry.

using them after lamination

Both stains fit into a lamination appointment. The Hybrid Liquid Brow Stain can be used immediately after a lamination treatment, and the Hybrid CREAM Brow Stain is compatible with brow lamination services and perfect after a BOMB Duo treatment.

Laminated hair takes color faster, so watch the timing closely and record it on the client card. The full same-session method is in the hybrid stain technique.

Hybrid Liquid Brow Stain Ash Blonde, Light Blonde, Light Chestnut Brown, Light Brown, Chestnut Brown, Reddish Brown, Medium Brown, Dark Brown, Black
Hybrid CREAM Brow Stain Ash Blonde, Blonde, Chestnut Brown, Light Brown, Medium Brown, Dark Brown, Black, Blue Black

Shades inside each line can be mixed. Keep each line with its own developer. How to pick and mix shades for each client is covered in choosing the right brow tint color.

Patch Test First

One test per product

Run a patch test with the exact stain and developer you will use, 24 to 48 hours before the appointment, and repeat it when you switch a client from one line to the other. Follow the product instructions and your state board's rules. Burning, swelling or spreading redness means no service and a referral to a physician. Swelling around the eyes or difficulty breathing is an emergency: call 911.

liquid or cream: questions from the chair

What is the difference between hybrid liquid and hybrid cream brow stain?
Texture, shade range and skin result. The cream glides on in one even coat and contains hyaluronic acid, in 8 shades. The liquid is pushed into the skin for a stronger 3D effect, in 9 shades. On the skin, the cream lasts about 2 to 7 days and the liquid up to 10 to 14 days.
What is the Hybrid Stain Liquid Developer for?
It is an alternative activator for the BB&L hybrid stains that makes a thinner, water-like stain for a subtle result, and it can be used in a handheld airbrush. BB&L mixes the hybrid stain and the Liquid Developer in a 2:1 ratio. Never mix hybrid stains with classic tint developer.
Which one is better for beginners?
The cream is the easier start. It stays where the brush puts it and goes on in one coat, which makes the skin result easier to control.
Are both hybrid stains henna-free?
Yes. Both the Hybrid Liquid Brow Stain and the Hybrid CREAM Brow Stain are 100% henna-free.
Can I mix liquid and cream shades together?
Mix shades inside the same line, with that line's developer. Each range is mixable within itself.
The Cream Stain

one coat, even color
