should you tint or laminate brows first?
Laminate first, then tint. The lamination steps reshape the hair and leave it more open to color, so the tint goes on afterward, with a shorter processing time. Tinting first exposes the fresh color to the lamination chemistry, which can shift or lift it and leave the brow uneven.
the order that works, and why
Lamination uses a lifting step and a neutralizing step to reshape the brow hair. Those steps leave the hair more porous, which helps the tint take evenly and quickly afterward.
BB&L builds its hybrid stains around that order: the Hybrid Liquid Brow Stain can be used immediately after a lamination treatment, and the Hybrid CREAM Brow Stain is described as perfect after a BOMB Duo treatment.

what happens if you tint first
A tint applied first then goes through the lamination steps. The lifting and neutralizing products act on the hair that holds the fresh color, and the result can come out lighter, patchy or a different tone from the one you chose. The client sees an uneven brow at the end of a long appointment.
Keep the order the same on every client so the result is predictable.
shorter tint timing after lamination
Hair that has just been laminated takes color faster. BB&L's lamination protocol suggests reducing the normal tint time by half when you tint right after the lift. Watch the color closely and remove it as soon as it reaches the depth you agreed.
Pick the shade lighter
On freshly laminated hair, the same shade reads deeper than on untreated hair. When you hesitate, go one shade lighter and record the result on the client card.

Hybrid Liquid Brow Stain
Henna-free stain in 9 mixable colors that tints the hair and creates a 3D effect on the skin. It can be used immediately after a lamination treatment.
See The Liquid Staintiming the whole appointment
- Consultation and prep: confirm the patch test, cleanse, and map the shape.
- Lamination: lifting step, then neutralizing step, following the kit instructions.
- Tint or hybrid stain: applied right after, with the shorter timing.
- Finish: remove, clean the skin, set the shape, and brief the client.
Lamination holds 6 to 8 weeks, so most clients book both services together on that cycle. The full same-session method is in the hybrid stain technique.
the one case where the order changes
A one-step product changes the sequence. BB&L's Super Speed Lift & Tint is used with the BOMB Duo Step 1 Lifting Cream and combines neutralizing and tinting in one step, so the tint happens during the lift instead of after it. Each box holds 10 sachets of 3 ml, enough for up to 40 services, and stays fresh for up to 7 days once opened.
Test every product in the appointment
Run a patch test 24 to 48 hours before the first combined service, with the exact lamination products, tint or stain, and developer you will use. Follow the product instructions and your state board's rules. Burning, swelling or spreading redness means no service and a referral to a physician. Swelling around the eyes or difficulty breathing is an emergency: call 911.
